Okay here’s the not so new surprise. I am excited to share that I signed up to be a participant in the Fall ’22 One Room Challenge! For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s basically a big supportive group where participants can share their room transformations. It doesn’t cost any money to sign up and anyone can participate. And the best part is that it’s not a competition. It’s just a way that everyone can share their work, be kept accountable, and hopefully help inspire others along the way. Can you guys guess which room we’re remodeling? If you guessed laundry room, you are 100% correct!
Yep, so the idea started back in February and we are still no further along than we were 7 months ago. We were already planning on finishing this room this year and to be honest, I thought this room would’ve been fully DONE by now. But life happens and this is where we are at! I’m hoping that by signing up for the ORC, this will help me stay on track to actually FINISHING this project. We have a lot of other pressing projects right now like the patio / pool so I’m hoping I can really give this room the attention it deserves. And If you are new here, I touched on this project a few months ago and even made a blog post on the laundry room plans. You can find the detailed version here. But for this first week, I’m going to keep it simple with a mood board and project timeline to hopefully keep me on track. Please know we’re going to do our best to finish this in 8 weeks, but as you know DIY doesn’t always go to plan and I’m preparing myself that it may happen this way again too.
In bullet points, here are our plans for the laundry room:
We added this wall of hooks in the spring of 2021 for added function while doing laundry and love it so this won’t be changing. Well, I may paint it. To keep this short and simple, we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on this room. While it is a room we use often, it is not a room we use every single day. And if we’re being honest, the room already functioned pretty well for us, especially after adding the hooks in there. Most of the issues I have with this room have to do with aesthetics. I know it already looks beautiful as is, but I wholeheartedly believe in investing in your home and creating beauty that is meaningful to you, even during the most boring tasks, like laundry.
Here is our very rough, general plan for the laundry room week by week. Please know none of this is set in stone and could change based on life.

Thank you so much for joining me on this exciting, yet scary challenge! This is technically an 8 week challenge with the “reveal” the week before Thanksgiving, but for me, I’m not setting any sort of timeframe. To me, it completely takes the joy out of it. After all, I’m still a wife, mom, and have a job. I will just work on it when I can and see where it goes. I look forward to taking you along! If you would like to see other participants in the fall one room challenge, you can check them out here.
Where we discuss all things design, obviously.
