Today I’m sharing our powder bathroom cost breakdown. I plan on being completely transparent on here so I will be sharing our budget and ways we could have saved. Keep in mind this project started in the creative stages in July 2021 so we have had some time to plan and save. We started ordering and sourcing things in September. In December, we started the demo. We are finally on the home stretch and I’m so excited!
Total: $9030.90
Total: $8,710.90
Our budget going into this was 5k, which I realize is a lot to put towards one bathroom. I debated on whether or not to remove our old floors to save money and the more we thought about it, it just made more since to do it all at once if I knew eventually I’d want to change them out. We had a long discussion back in September that since this is our forever home, we might as well make our home something special to us. I am the type of person who likes to get the best deals and the cheapest prices any way I can even if it sacrifices how it looks. So I am not actually proud of the fact that we went way over budget. In the end was it worth it to us? I’d say YES. Since it took 8 months to complete start to finish, it did help us to save a little and not spend a huge chunk at once.
There are many ways we could have saved during this bathroom remodel. I do think this entire bathroom remodel could have been done within our $5k budget and maybe even less than that and heres how.
If you’d like a similar look without the hefty price tag, this is one huge area you can save! Some of these vanities include the countertop and some don’t. Depending on your budget and style preferences, you could get a really pretty look at a better price.

If you asked me at the beginning of this renovation if a 10k bathroom remodel was worth it, I would have said no way ever!! Even if we had that kind of money, it would never be worth it to me. But now that it’s done and we are over the sticker shock of it all, I couldn’t be more wrong. It was worth it to me. Not just because the toilet is out of the hallway and in our bathroom again. This bathroom renovation is worth it to me for personal reasons. After launching my interior design business in November, I felt major setbacks and discouragement after I couldn’t seem to get any clients. I started questioning my passion and my hobby. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong and my confidence was at an all time low. This bathroom gave me something to get my mind off of it. It gave me confidence that I could do it and I hope it helped you along the way too. I hope it gave you inspiration or helped you see that you CAN do it too.
Where we discuss all things design, obviously.
