Home after the Holidays

Home after the holidays. I don’t know about you, but after we put all the holiday decor away, things can kind of feel a bit off. At least for me anyway. Growing up, it made me so sad to put the Christmas tree away. I don’t know if it is a continuation of childhood nostalgia, or the fact that Christmas trees and lights really do help our mood. Either way, I couldn’t help but feel a bit off after it was all away. Sure, it was great to have things back to normal, but things felt bare. I decided I’d share with you some things you can do to love your home again after the holiday season.

1. Rearrange decor. Try switching things up in your own home to make them feel “new” again. For me, I took a vase and box from our laundry room and moved it to our living room table. It was such a nice change! I also took art from my craft closet and created this nice little moment. Even better that the snowy trees somewhat matched our backyard!
2. Bring your live plants back.  It makes the room feel so lived in and cozy. If you happened to neglect them over the holidays like I did, visit your local nursery and see what new life you can bring to your space!
3. Swap out pillows and blankets. Sometimes a refresh doesn’t have to mean a huge transformation. It can be swapping out throw pillows and blankets. It’s amazing how warm and inviting a space can feel when these are updated.
4. Light a candle. After the holidays things can feel less comforting and fresh. A candle brings an element of interest and warmth to a space. The tiniest candle can make a big impact so don’t worry about size!
