Baby Boy Baby Shower

April 26, 2022

I especially enjoyed this baby boy baby shower for several reasons. I love babies, the color blue, and I love this friend. We go back to highschool and we had so much fun all the time. It’s harder to get together these days but we still keep in touch. She was the first friend I could bring over to our house and feel comfortable. One day I’ll give you a tour of my house growing up and you’ll understand why!

I decided to share this on the blog because I do enjoy things other than home decor haha! On this post I will breakdown:

  • How I decorated
  • What I made vs what I bought
  • How long it took
  • Cost

To begin, I did NOT want to be stressed when decorating. I didn’t have any other hosts to help me for this shower so I knew I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself to do ALL THE THINGS. In fact, if you saw my instagram stories, then you know I was busy doing a million other projects the day before. Hey, what can I say, I work better by procrastinating.

I was expecting around 15-20 people so I knew I didn’t have to prepare a ton of food. In fact, I kept things stress free for me and had Chicken Salad Chick catered. You can buy around 40 croissant sandwiches in 3 different flavors for about $40. I ordered a croissant tray and a pimento cheese tray. I’ll link their catering menu here. I bought blue icing chocolate cupcakes from Walmart for $13 a dozen and decorated it myself. I will link those here. To take it to the next level, I also had one of Will’s coworkers make me these GORGEOUS custom cookies. I’ll link her instagram here.

HOW I DECORATED

To keep things simple for me, yet still look well decorated, I bought two different balloon garlands. One to match the colors on the invitations and another that said “Welcome Baby Wyatt.” I placed the “Welcome Baby Wyatt” garland behind the serving table in our dining room.

When I started to put together the colored balloon garland, my biggest disappointment was that the balloon tape wasn’t long enough! Only half of the balloons fit on the tape, but LUCKILY I had leftover tape from another party and decided to split the garland in half (two balloon colors on one & two balloon colors on another) and use them in two different places for the shower which actually turned out BETTER (in my opinion)!

I used cupcake wrappers and this tree topper to really upscale the cupcakes from walmart.

Then, I put a variety of fruit on a stick and cut the wooded cupcake wrapper into 3 parts and placed a sticker on top to keep in line with theme.

WHAT I MADE VS. WHAT I BOUGHT

WHAT I MADE

  • Welcome Sign
    • I keep a black picture frame handy that I recycle for every shower or party. I use my Cricut to cut out the letters and design and then I apply it to the sign for easy installation and removal.
  • Baby Name Wood Sign
    • One of the biggest ways to make someone feel special (I think) is a handmade, personalized sign. I had leftover wood from a previous project and stained the wood and then painted his full name with a logo to match his nursery. Painted wood signs feel more custom and special. This is a great thing to invest the time and money in because it’s thoughtful, personal, can be used as shower decor, and then works as a great gift afterwards. In short, everyone needs a cricut!

WHAT I BOUGHT

HOW LONG IT TOOK

I would say all together the entire decorating, making signs, preparing food and assembling the garland took about 6 hours. It seems like a lot, but I was able to spread this out over weeks. 3 hours was probably spent making the signs and the rest was assembling the balloon garlands, hanging them, decorating the table, and then preparing the food.

Roughly $250 in food and decorations and worth every penny for someone I love! Some of those items I can reuse for future showers too. I hope this helps you if you are ever hosting. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to borrow anything!
