Elevate Your Art With New Mat Boards

February 14, 2023

Have you ever felt like you wanted to switch things up in your home but didn’t know where to start? Have you ever felt like your art was great but the way it was displayed was… lacking? Have you ever wanted to have designer / high end art but without the designer price tag? If you answered yes to any of these, then I HAVE THE ANSWER FOR YOU!

I partnered with Matboards and More to make your art and your home come to life. In my opinion, having gorgeous art is only have the battle when it comes to design. If it is not displayed in a unique, original way, it can seem very plain. Most people only think about changing out their frames to elevate their art, but I want to challenge you to take it one step further and try switching out your mat boards! It can instantly bring your art new life and change the look of your design plan altogether! AND it will probably cost you WAY LESS than buying new custom frames.

In this blog post, I will share all the nitty gritty details on how I transformed this boring wall into something that complimented the room and coordinated with the decor that was already existing. But in order for me to do that, I have to show you the beforebefore.

BEFORE

DESIGNER TIP: One of the biggest tips I can offer you is to try and fill your space as best as possible without filling it TOO much. For us, that meant that the art on this wall was very tiny in comparison to the scale of the wall and so everything was falling flat. Nothing was bringing height to the space. One thing to help with that was getting larger frames and hanging them all higher on the wall to draw your eye up. That is also why we got the large hall tree. It serves as storage, seating, and just an object of interest. I love trying to find little vintage pieces any way I can to balance old and new. Here is how it looked after we made those few changes.

After we made those changes I loved it, but I had my heart set on having white walls a long time before I got this nook looking cute. One thing I did not think about though was that our newly white walls would end up blending in to the white art, which has been fine for a year. BUT I always knew I wanted something different there eventually.

AFTER

I absolutely love the color and the way the art pops even more now! My ONLY negative is not in the mat boards at all, but in the actual glass from the frames. I would probably now have to invest in some anti glare frames because the refection makes it annoying sometimes!

MATBOARD DETAILS

So here are the lovely details from Matboards and More! What I love about this specific site is that you get a visual representation to mock it up exactly for you! Just type in your frame dimensions, choose your color, inside opening, and the computer model will do the work for you! It is SO helpful for anyone who is visual like me. You can specify specific dimensions too and for all you perfectionists out there, this is GREAT!

To take it one step further, this time not only did I choose a different color (they can send you samples too) I also did a double mat and diamond pattern around the opening. There are tons of fun options to choose from here! The price does go up a bit if you get this detail but I think it’s worth it. And last but not least my favorite detail is that I can top center it for a more high end look. I love top centering art especially small scale because it adds a level of interest that a non – custom mat could do. If you were to take this to a framer, the cost would be VERY expensive! I will share the details of my order below.

I chose the color sage with diamond corners and 3.5 x 3.5 inch openings and top centered. The frame size is 16×20 and I had 6 frames. I kept the arrowhead art that I had before because I still love them. If you have never shopped with Matboards and more before, they are offering new customers a lovely 25% off of your first time purchase! Just use code: MBNM25%.

I hope this posts helped you see that upgrading your home doesn’t have to have a lot of skill! Just have to be willing to try new things!
